Update 6.31pm: Police are dealing with as many as five cars involved in a crash on Hewletts Rd near the Bridge Marina.
A SunLive reporter says multiple vehicles were involved and it was on the southbound lane but was unsure if there were any injuries.
A witness has contacted SunLive and says he drove past the crash at 6.05pm and as many as five cars were involved. He also mentioned the lights on the bridge were not working but was unsure it was related to the crash.
The SunLive reporter says traffic is backed up to the overpass bridge.
Earlier: Reports are coming in of a multiple car crash on the roundabout of Elizabeth St and Takitimu Drive (SH2).
Emergency services are heading to the scene now.
A witness has told SunLive the crash is on the northbound lane and there is debris everywhere.
The latest crash takes the toll of crashes around the city to three in the last two hours.

A reminder needed?

It's wet out there, drive accordingly! The object should be to arrive at your destination safely, not first, or in the shortest possible time, with the mentality of 'getting there'. Remember you are but one road user on the road at any given time. Nothing, but nothing, gives anyone the right to drive badly. Not aimed at this crash; we have driven around town this evening and seen some crazy driving for the conditions.
