Multiple police units have been spotted heading along State Highway 2 this afternoon.

A message to the SunLive Facebook page says they saw two police cars head towards Golf Road and Maunganui Road.

'Another cop car went down the bus lane and then headed over the flyover heading towards Bayfair.”

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says they saw police units heading in the Te Puke dirction.

Another caller says they saw multiple police cars along the Matata Straights heading towards Tauranga.

A police spokesperson says police were following a vehicle of interest to an address in Matata.

'We are now speaking to one person in relation to this.”
