One person received serious injuries in a two-car crash near Te Puke on Friday night.

The crash happened at the intersection of Te Matai Road and Te Puke Highway about 7.10pm.

A police spokesperson reported that six people were injured, one person with serious injuries, one person with moderate injuries and four people with minor injuries.

Police, fire and ambulance services attended the incident. One lane of the road was blocked, with traffic being managed.

The Serious Crash Unit has examined the scene.
