Saturday August 3, 7am update:
State Highway 2 near Bethlehem has now been reopened following a crash early this morning.
Police say they received reports of a single car crash on SH2 in Bethlehem about 1.50am on Saturday morning.
"No one was injured but the road was blocked and debris was on the road," says a Police spokesperson.
"Diversions were put in place by the Waihi Road off-ramp and the Bethlehem/SH2 roundabout. The road was reopened about 4am."
Earlier, 2.20am:
A crash has occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, closing part of State Highway 2 in Bethlehem.
NZTA report that SH2 between Bethlehem Rd and Cambridge Rd is closed in both directions due to a crash that happened at approximately 2am.
Emergency services are at the scene.
It is unknown at this stage whether there are any injuries.
Traffic diversions are in place. Southbound traffic is directed to turn right onto Moffat Rd, left onto Cambridge Rd, and back onto SH2. Northbound traffic follow southbound in reverse.
The highway is expected to be opened again by 4.30am.

Another one car accident.This like others could be a road death.Why?Govt,NZTA,Police need to get the basics right first,better driver training,more comprehensive license testing,restriction on engine/power size as for motorcycle.What did the driver do wrong in this case?
