Power cuts in Whakamarama and Whitianga

11am update: There is a power outage in Whakamarama.

PowerCo report that trees in power lines have caused a power cut that is affecting 206 properties in Whakamarama.

Power is expected to be restored by 2pm.

Power has now been restored to 446 properties in Katikati following trees being caught in power lines.

There is still a power cut at Cooks Beach in Whitianga affecting 510 properties. A site investigation is underway. Power went off there at 8.09am and is expected to be restored by 12.30pm.

Earlier, 10am: There are power outages in Katikati, Whitianga and Parkvale.

PowerCo reports that 446 properties have been affected by a power outage, which occurred at 9.20am.

The power cut is due to trees caught in power lines.

Power is expected to be restored in Katikati by 2pm.

In Whitianga 651 properties are affected by a power cut that occurred at 8.09am.

A site investigation is underway and power is expected to be restored to Whitianga and Cooks Beach by 12.30pm.

Meanwhile in Tauranga, 41 properties at Gate Pa and 37 properties at Parkvale have been affected by a power cut due to a vehicle hitting a pole in Courtney Rd just before 2am.
