Mount home sells for record $9.5m

The beachfront home has beaten a previous Mount home’s record price. Howling Wolf Media.

A waterfront home along Mount Maunganui's heralded main beach has been sold for a record $9.525 million.

The four-bedroom, three-storey, 540 square metre home on Marine Parade, Mount Maunganui, sold by tender, with two other offers also presented.

Listing agent Kay Ganley, from Bayleys Mount Maunganui, says the home was 'next level, absolutely stunning”.

It features an infinity pool, gym, library, guest kitchenette, award-winning kitchen and dramatic hand-carved underground Hinuera-stone wine cellar.

She says the home was built with materials of the highest quality, including marble, native timbers and hand-carved stone. The walls to the front and sides of the house were constructed using about 40,000 quarry stones by a local stonemason.

Kay says it was the most beautiful home she has marketed in 23 years.

She is not surprised by the sale price:

'We were introducing buyers over $9 million.”

Kay says the home sold to a farming family from Waikato, which was fitting as it had a 'lovely family feel”.
