A sudden deluge of heavy rain on Saturday night caused flooding across some roads between Omanu at Arataki.
A fire truck and crew were called to the area following the downpour around 7.30pm.
A SunLive reporter at the scene says that Carysfort Street and surrounding streets were flooded and some were impassable while the fire crew were dealing with the water.
"The firefighters were working to clear the drains along the roads. Traffic was directed to go a different way."

"The firefighters were working to clear the drains along the roads........................." Is it not the job of the Council to ensure that the street drains are kept clean & clear of rubbish that is likely to block them with a bit of rain? Oh, that’s right preventative maintenance is now a thing of the past – it's now a case of wait until there is a problem and then we will have a look at doing something about it !! Meanwhile residents have to put up with the problem - in this case FLOODING

Had a belly full of paying huge rates to this Council only to see our beautiful area declining. Buck up Council, get your backsides off your leather chairs and work for your ratepayers!!
