Highway open after bank falls down

State Highway 29 is reported to now be open.

The road was closed earlier today when a bank fall down blocking both lanes of the highway between Omanawa and Poripori roads.

Detours had been put in place while contractors worked to clear the scene.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is reporting that the highway is noe opwn.

"Following an earlier large slip near Ruahihi Rd, Lower Kaimai, SH29 is now open again.

"Thank you for your patience."

Meanwhile, a tree has fallen down blocking a lane on Te Puke highway between Welcome Bay Road and Bell Road, reports a SunLive reader.
