State Highway 2 through the Karangahake Gorge is likely to close due to flooding says Waka Kotahi NZTA.
"Due to rising river levels through the Karangahake Gorge, SH2 will likely close."
Karangahake Gorge is located between Paeroa and Waihi.
Owharoa Falls, located off Waitawheta Road in Karangahake Gorge, near State Highway 2, is close to the small settlement of Waikino, and is "kicking it" today, says a SunLive reader.

State Highway 2 Pokeno to Mangatarata
Due to a large slip, SH2 is blocked between SH25 and Coxhead Rd. Expect delays through this area and take extra care.
For an alternative route, use SH2, Canal East Rd, SH25, then back on to SH2.

State Highway 29 Te Poi to Tauranga -Kaimai Range closure
Due to multiple slips, SH29 is closed between SH28, Te Poi and Cambridge Rd, Tauriko. Delay your journey if possible or consider alternative route.
Detour route: Westbound traffic to Matamata, Hamilton or Waikato: follow SH36 south (towards Rotorua) from Tauranga for 48km to SH5. Turn right and follow signs to Matamata or Hamilton.
Tauranga bound traffic, from SH29 west side of the Kaimai Range, use SH28/Rapurapu Road, after 16km turn left to SH5, after 36km follow signs to Tauranga via SH36.
Auckland traffic use SH2 via Katikati, Waihi and Paeroa - unless Karangahake Gorge is closed.

State Highway 30 Tikitere to Rotoma closure
Due to a slip, SH30 is closed between SH33 and Lake Okataina Rd. Please avoid this area if possible and take extra care.
Detour route: Detour via SH2 and SH33.
Coromandel update
Coromandel's CFM report that rain has lessened around the Coromandel Peninsula
"However MetService are indicating there is still the potential for more to come," says a Coromandel's CFM spokesperson.

Significant levels of rain have fallen today with Coromandel Town recording over 100mm and Whangamata 65mm. The Pinnacles has also seen 86mm while Castle Rock in the north of the peninsula recorded 116mm.
"NIWA has issued a post indicating that more rain is likely so please keep a close watch and monitor information from official sites.
