Slip affecting house in Coromandel area

Flooding on Manaia Road/SH25.

A house is reported to have been affected by a slip in the Coromandel area.

Coromandel's CFM is reporting that emergency services are on the way to Thornton Bay where a slip has occurred that has impacted a home.

"No more details at the moment," says a post on the station's Facebook page.

Meanwhile, there is also a report of a vehicle being hit by rocks on the Thames Coast Road.

"Please follow Civil Defence advice and stay home.

"It is not safe to travel at the moment."

Due to recent weather events, there will be stop/go traffic management in various locations with 30km/h temporary speed restriction in place along SH25.

Road users are advised to plan your journey accordingly and expect possible delays of up to 15 minuets when travelling through the area, says the NZTA.

Civil Defence Controller Garry Towler says they are monitoring the Kauaeranga River which is 74cm above its flood warning levels but he doesn't believe that it will spill over.

He says they are keeping a close eye on the Tairua river at Hikuai. Next high tide at 4:40pm.

Overnight, the Thames-Coromandel region had 100mm of rain, reports CFM.
