Motorists are being advised to expect delays on State Highway 2, near Matata.

A large slip has come down, blocking both lanes of the highway just before Matata coming from the Tauranga direction.

People have posted on social media showing the slip and that it is still passable using the slip lane on the road.

Meanwhile, rain warning and watches issued for the Bay of Plenty for most of this week have now been lifted.

The MetService is forecasting showers this evening, and the odd shower or two tomorrow until the evening.
