Update, 3.30pm: The slip reported earlier on SH25 near the Ruamahunga boat ramp has now been cleared, according to Waka Kotahi.
Motorists are encouraged to continue driving with caution in the area.
Earlier, 11am: Waka Kotahi NZTA are advising drivers to take caution while driving on State Highway 25 due to flooding on the road.
There is flooding between Coromandel and Te Kouma on SH25.
Earlier, 8am: A lane on State Highway 25 is blocked following a slip overnight.
"Due to a slip on SH25 Just north of the Ruamahanga Boat Ramp, the southbound lane is blocked," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and drive with caution
The Thames-Coromandel District Council is advising people to take extra care if out and about.
Gale force easterlies and heavy rain are expected to persist across the Coromandel through to Monday evening, especially along the eastern seaboard.
Winds gusting to 100km/h, especially in exposed places, and another 180mm of rain is expected over this period before a short reprieve on Tuesday.
"If you are travelling add extra time to your journey and prepare for delays, our roading crews are clearing debris and fallen trees as quickly as possible," says a council spokesperson.
The Monday commute could also be disrupted as spring tides at 3.30am and 4pm will put pressure on saturated catchments.
'We are odds on for a significant weather event this week so the key messages are stay connected and well informed, and above all don't take risks,” says Civil Defence Controller Garry Towler.
