The weather is still mainly settled for New Zealand today, says a WeatherWatch spokesperson.
"The eastern North Island and eastern Northland have a few showers but these will ease."
For Bay of Plenty, Northland, Auckland, and Waikato the day is expected to be sunny with temperature highs around 15-17 degrees Celsius for the four regions, and southeasterly winds easing.
"There may be some cloud with the risk of a shower for Coromandel, Great Barrier Island and eastern Northland, more so in the morning. Overnight mist or fog for the Waikato."
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny, some cloud closer to the eastern ranges. Overnight mist or fog. Light southeasterlies.
Highs: 9-15
Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy with occasional showers. Wairarapa is mainly dry. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-15
Wellington
Some morning cloud then mostly sunny, light southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny, some morning cloud for Marlborough breaks away. Light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-14
Canterbury
Morning coastal cloud, perhaps a drizzle patch then mostly sunny. Sunny and frosty inland. Northeasterlies a little fresh near the coast.
Highs: 4-13
West Coast
Sunny, cloud for South Westland spreads further north later in the day. Fiordland sees late showers or rain. Light winds.
Highs: 12-14
Southland & Otago
Frosty then sunny with a touch of high cloud from late afternoon, mid level cloud in the evening. Light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 7-11
