A weak front is expected to move slowly south over the upper North Island on Thursday and Friday.
"At this stage it looks unlikely to bring warning amounts of rain," says a MetService spokesperson.
"On Saturday and Sunday a low just northwest of New Zealand is expected to direct a moist northeasterly flow across the North Island with occasional rain, mainly in the north and east.
"There is a low confidence in warning amounts of rain for the Coromandel Peninsula and Tairawhiti/Gisborne."
