MetService is forecasting a mainly fine day with some cloud from the afternoon, and southwesterlies.

It's a two-layer clothing day with an expected high of 17 degrees, and an overnight low 6 degrees. High tide is at 10,12am and low tide is at 4.10pm. Sunset is at 5.21pm.

Enjoy winter racing at Tauranga Racecourse today. Everyone is welcome. There are warm rooms to escape from the cold, plenty of seating in the grandstands, and if the sun is shining you can sit out at one of the complimentary picnic tables on the St Leger Lawn. Admission is free, with gates opening at 11am and the first race at 12.15pm. There's a cafe on site with delicious warm food, a coffee cart, and very reasonable drink prices.Please note: No BYO permitted.

Derek and Nigel, the Self-Righteous Brothers, are doing their thing again today at Jack Dusty's Ale House from 2pm - 5pm.. It'll be bluesy, with a side order of country, a dash of acoustic Kokomo seasoning and whatever else the boys fancy from the day's musical larder. Come down and have a lowdown hoedown.

Bay of Plenty Regional Council are running a planting day for the Waikareao Estuary. Meet up at Goods Road entry from 10am -   Join in to help restore and clean up our local estuary. Remember to bring covered shoes, gloves and a spade.
