Saturday’s national forecast – mainly settled

MetService weather analysts are forecasting a mainly settled day ahead for most of the country.

"Thanks to high pressure, there is a little cloud about for some, though with a light shower or two,  but it’s otherwise not too bad."

For Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty there is a mix of sun and cloud,

Bay of Plenty will be sunny all day. Cloud will thicken in the evening for Auckland and Northland, bringing the risk of a shower. The four regions will have gentle southwesterlies with temperatures highs for the day ranging from 13 – 15 degrees Celsius.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloud thickens in the morning, chance of a shower from afternoon, clearing evening. Light winds.
Highs: 7 – 14

Eastern North Island
A mix of sun and cloud, southwesterlies develop in the morning, easing evening.
Highs: 12 – 14

Wellington
Partly cloudy, light northerlies.
Highs: 11 – 12

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light winds tend onshore.
Highs: 11 – 13

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 10 – 12

West Coast
Mostly sunny with a few clouds for North Westland, further south skies are cloudier with showers for Fiordland. Light winds.
Highs: 10 – 13

Southland & Otago
Partly cloudy, Southland and Central Otago may be mostly cloudy with a spit or shower possible in the afternoon. Gentle north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10 – 13
