Fire emergency services are responding to a commercial building fire in Gate Pa.

Fire and Emergency NZ Northern Shift Manager Garreth Lewis says they received multiple calls about the fire at 11.44am.

"We have arrived minutes ago, and the building is well-involved."

Two fire trucks from Greerton and Tauranga are attending the scene.

The cause of the fire is as yet unknown and SunLive will update this once more information becomes available.

"At this stage we are working to extinguish the fire," says Garreth.
