A heavy rain warning remains in place for the Bay of Plenty and Coromandel.
According to the MetService, heavy rain is exepcted to turn to showers for a period in the BOP this afternoon before another burst of heavy rain this evening.
Rain is then expected to ease.
"Heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous," says a post on the MetService wesbite.
Overnight, firefighters were called to a tree that had fallen on a house in Greerton.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern spokesperson says they were called to a Waimapu Street address at 8.17pm.
Everyone had made it safe out of the house when firefighters arrvied at the scene. Crews worked to make the house safe again.
Police were also calle. A police spokesperson says they were advised of a tree/branch that had fallen on a house, but were not required to attend.

No road closures have been reported in the Bay of Plenty, but there is some surface flooding and motorists are advised to drive to the conditions by slowing down and turning their lights on.
In the Coromandel Peninsula, an orange heavy rain warning is in place this morning.
According to Coromandel's CFM Facebook page, Tairua Hikuai Road is officially closed but floodwaters have receeeded.
"They believe it will be flooded again by the time high tide comes in again this morning which is why it's still officially closed, my partner just got through to finish his deliveries now before heading back to thames,” the post reads.
The radio station is also reporring that SH25 is clear around the Coromandel.
"Reports of small slips on Whangapoa Hill but passable. No issues from Coronandel to Thames but reports of debris on roads.
"309 Rd is open and clear.
"Colville Rd South of Amodeo Bay has a slip reported with posts saying road is closed."
