Multiple power outages are being reported around Tauranga and the wider Western Bay of Plenty.

According to Powerco, several properties are without power in Tauriko, Aongatete and Whakamarama.

Power went off at different stages between 2.30am and 7am.

Site investigations are underway into the cause of the power outages.

Powerco estimates to have power back on at various stages this morning.

Meanwhile, people are being warned to prepare for heavy rain and strong winds to continue today.
