MetService is forecasting a morning of patchy drizzle, turning to rain from around midday, with northerlies.

It's a one-to-two-layer clothing day with an expected high of 20 degrees, and an overnight low of 17 degrees. High tide is at 12.21pm and low tide is at 6.31pm. Sunset is at 8.23pm.

A heavy rain warning has been issued by MetService for the eastern ranges of the Bay of Plenty. Heavy rain is forecast there from 4pm Sunday, December 3 to 3am Monday, December 4. Expect 60 to 80 mm of rain, with peak rates of 10 to 20 mm per hour expected Sunday evening.

What's on today?

An event celebrating International Day of Disabled Persons is being held at Mount Maunganui today. Everyone is invited to come and show their support and join in for a free, family-friendly, fun-filled celebration at Mount Drury - Hopukiore from 10am-1pm.

Plant Fest is on today from 9am - 2pm at Tauranga Racecourse. Over 50 vendors in one place with plenty of food to enjoy.

Head to Mount Maunganui for the Thrifted Monthly Market from 8.30am - 12.30pm in the Mount CBD. 

If you're in Papamoa head to the 'It Takes a Village Kids Market'' at Te Manawa ō Pāpāmoa School, 72 Te Okuroa Drive.

There's an Artisan Market at Black Walnut near Omokoroa from 10am - 2pm with plenty of art, interior design, floral design and more.

There is also the Day Out Market at Bethlehem Town Centre from 9am - 1pm with vendors, balloon animals, food, activities, games and candy floss.

Christmas Carols on the Tauranga Waterfront are planned to be held at Edgewater Fan, Tauranga Waterfront, from 5.30pm - 7pm on Sunday, December 3.  Bring a picnic dinner if you wish and a rug or low chair to sit on. And keep an eye on the weather today.

Come and support the Mount Maunganui Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon which started at 7am and is on until 1pm. Open to Kiwi kids aged 6-15 years the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon is a fun and rewarding day out for everyone. Kids of all sporting abilities swim, cycle, and run their way around age-appropriate courses, either as an individual or as a team of two.
