Batten down the hatches...or at least wear a raincoat to work this week, as heavy rain and isolated showers are set to hit around the country from Monday through to Friday.
According to MetService, Monday will see rain take over much of the country, from Northland to Southland.
From Northland, through Auckland and into the Waikato, Monday will see showers throughout the day, with some turning heavy. There will be possibilities for thunderstorms for Northland.
For the Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, Taupo, Taihape and Taranaki, the regions will see showers throughout the day too, with some potentially becoming heavy and possibly thundery from the afternoon afternoon.
Gisbourne and Hawke's Bay will see showers throughout the day, with conditions possibly getting thundery around the western ranges.
From Taranaki to Wellington and Wairarapa, the rain from Sunday will clear throughout Monday.
For Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and Westland, scattered showers will clear throughout the day, and the Kaikoura Coast and Canterbury will be cloudy with light drizzle.
Fiordland, Otago and Southland will be partly cloudy, with a few showers in Southland and Clutha before clearing on Monday morning. Rain on the Chatham Islands will clear throughout Monday as well.
Tuesday will see heavy rain for Northland with possible downpours. Showers will take place throughout the North Island and there will be isolated showers for Bay of Plenty and south of Taihape.
The isolated showers continue in the west of the south while remaining cloud and showers in Canterbury will clear.
Wednesday will have isolated showers becoming widespread and possibly heavy throughout the North Island.
For the South Island, Wednesday will see showers develop in the west and north as rain is expected to fall in Fiordland.
