Grief Support Services is now offering mini professional workshops in Tauranga. The first series will be on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, which are ideal for counsellors, social workers, health improvement practitioners and health coaches.
Three new Learning Over Kai mini workshops will be held in September, October and November.
“Featuring Dr Nikki Kiyimba, each session will focus on a different aspect of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy,” says Grief Support Services’ general manager Ana Toneato.
The first session on September 25 is an overview of DBT and behaviour chain analysis; session two on October 23 is diary keeping homework and an overview of DBT skills; the final session on November 27 is a DBT skills focus and putting it all together.
Each session runs from 9.15am-11.15am at the Heremanuhiri Meeting Room at Greerton Library, with morning tea provided.
Ana says Nikki Kiyimba is a clinical psychologist specialising in working with clients with enduring mental health challenges and complex trauma.
“She is director of Mātai Rongo, and she developed the first post-graduate programme in Responding to Trauma accredited by NZQA.
“Nikki has also authored several books and published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles; and she’s at the forefront of professional training for a range of health and social care professionals.”
Those who attend all three sessions will receive a CPD certificate for six hours of CPD on DBT Informed Practice and a copy of Nikki’s book What to Expect in DBT. Spaces are limited to 30 people per session. To book tickets, see the advert on this page – or email: admin@griefsupport.org.nz
