Update, 6pm:  One person has been seriously injured, following a two-vehicle crash on Oropi Road.

Police said the road which was blocked is now clear.

The crash, near Nga Parae Road, was reported to Police around 2.15pm.

One person has been taken to Tauranga Hospital.

Earlier, 3.48pm: One rapid response unit, one ambulance, and one operations manager attended.

One patient in moderate condition is currently being transported to Tauranga Hospital.

Reports are coming in of a serious crash in the Western Bay of Plenty.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says it appears two vehicles have crashed on Oropi Rd, near the intersection of Nga Parae Rd and Castles Rd.

A police spokesperson said the crash was reported to them at 2.15pm.

“Looks like one person has been seriously injured, and the road is blocked currently.”
