Emergency services were at the scene of a water-related accident in Tauranga this morning.

Update 1.25pm: A person has died after getting in trouble in the water near Tauranga Marina this morning," said a police spokesperson.

"Police were alerted at 10.45am.

"CPR was performed but tragically the person was unable to be revived.

"The death will be referred to the Coroner."

Initial report 11.35am: Hato Hone St John was notified of the incident at 10.39am today on Keith Allen Drive, Tauranga, said a Hato Hone St John spokesperson. 

"One ambulance and one rapid response vehicle attended."

Police have been contacted for more information.
