There are “significant” delays on State Highway 36, near Oropi Gorge Rd, due to a truck breakdown.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said one lane of SH36, also known as Pyes Pa Rd, was blocked after a truck broke down about 2.20pm.
Police said in a statement that traffic management measures had been implemented.
No injuries had been reported.

I doubt it was the breakdown that caused the significant delays more like the resealing of roads with all the road works happening on tauranga direct road.. I think 4 different road work sites alone on that highway between rotorua and tauranga.so blame the road works. Shouldn't be any this close to Xmas..
