A new landmark has been added to Pauanui's town centre with the completion of the community amenities building.
Located at 23 Centreway, construction on the building was completed on June 1 and the Pauanui Community Library and the Pauanui Information Centre moved in a few days later.

Tairua-Pauanui community co-ordinator Lorna Price the library and information centre have both gained a lot of space compared to their old premises and are using it very well.
The third element in the building is a meeting room which the Tairua-Pauanui Community Board will use and which is also available for hire.
The Community Board will hold its first meeting at the new community building on June 29.
While the building itself is finished, there's a bit of landscaping work to be done. Lorna says they were taking a step back to see how the building worked before embarking on the landscaping.
'We're hoping to put some big, chunky bench seats by the trees so people can sit down and have a break.”
The idea for the building came out of numerous meetings residents and ratepayers had over the Pauanui Community Plan in 2005.
'There has been a huge amount of community engagement right from the beginning,” says Lorna. 'The community wanted a hub, somewhere to come to.”
It's built over two sections. The first one was purchased in 2005 but an initial concept for a two-storey building was scrapped as unsuitable.
A neighbouring section was purchased in 2009 and designers were given a brief and asked to submit concepts.
House builder GJ Gardner won the contract and in 2012 their design was approved and last year work on the building began.
The official opening of the new Pauanui Community Centre takes place on Saturday, June 27.
