Update 12.39pm: Bay of Plenty roads plagued with ice have been given the all clear says New Zealand Transport Agency.
In a media statement the Agency says State Highway 5 between Tirau and Ngongotaha was now clear and so had SH 30 between Rotoma and Te Teko in the Eastern Bay.
Also resolved was the black ice on SH 5 between Rotorua and Waiotapu SH 38 junction.
Earlier: A cold snap has caused a number of Bay of Plenty roads to become icy and motorists are being advised to be cautious while travelling.
The New Zealand Transport Agency says State Highway 30 between Rotoma and Te Teko in the Eastern Bay of Plenty has ice and motorists are being asked to drive carefully especially through the Rotoma hills.
Meanwhile, reports have also come in of ice 2.52km west of Waimangu and 2.90km southeast of Earthquake Flats on SH 5.
Earlier the Agency also advised motorist of ice on SH 5 between Ngongotaha and Tirau.
A SunLive reporter travelling in from Rotorua on SH36 between Ngongotaha and Tauranga says there was some ice on the road but conditions were safe to drive providing motorist took their time.
