Work is underway to fix the washouts on the eastern side of the Tapu-Coroglen Road summit which were caused by the storm in late July.
Thames-Coromandel District Council road maintenance contractors Broadspectrum will be using an excavator to place boulders on the narrow section of road, which is likely to cause delays.

'There will be delays of up to 20 minutes to allow the excavator to complete the road stabilisation work," says TCDC roading manager Matt Busch.
Signs have been installed at either end of the Tapu-Coroglen Road advising motorists of delays.
For the remainder of the week 20 minute delays will occur between 9am – 4.30pm to allow people travelling to and from work to have uninterrupted travel.
Then from next Monday (October 10) delays can be expected between 9am – 2.45pm to accommodate school traffic.
The work is scheduled for completion by Friday, October 21.
'We want to thank motorists for their patience, we understand the delays will be a hindrance, although a necessary one to restore the level of service at the affected sites,” says Matt.
If you have any questions regarding the work call the Thames-Coromandel District Council on 07 868 0200.
