The 24-year-old woman killed when her car collided with a truck near Lake Karapiro on Wednesday was Terryn Nicole Duncan of Tauranga.

Police released her name this afternoon. The accident happened on SH29 near the Hinuera Quarry.

Police say Terryn appeared to lose control entering a bend before 5am, shortly after a downpour.

A truck driver's plea for drivers to slow down went viral afterwards.

Police extend their deepest sympathies to her family and friends during this difficult time.
