8.20am update: Power has now been restored in Pyes Pa and Lower Kaimai following a power cut at 7.30am.

There are 70 properties in Greerton that still have a power outage.

Power is expected to be restored to the remaining Greerton properties by 12.30pm.

Earlier, 7.45am:

Powerco are reporting a power outage in both Pyes Pa and Lower Kaimai.

The power cut occurred at 7.30am.

The outage is affecting 630 properties in Lower Kaimai, and 1604 properties in Pyes Pa.

A reader to SunLive who lives in Pyes Pa says that they are unable to get their car out of their garage to go to church this morning due to the power cut.

"I may as well go back to bed."

Power is expected to be restored by 12.30pm.

The cause of the outage is unknown at this stage.
