State Highway 25 is closed between Coromandel Town and Te Rerenga, and between Whitianga and Kuaotunu, due to slips.
Motorists are advised to delay journeys or allow extra time for a significant detour via Waihi and Whitianga, or via Waihi and Karangahake Gorge.
"Please drive carefully and to the conditions as there is surface flooding on many roads in the Coromandel Peninsula area," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.
"If possible, please stay home and delay your journey until more information becomes available.

On Friday night, due to a fallen tree on SH25 10 minutes east of Coromandel there were traffic delays between Coromandel and Whitianga.
Ongoing closures on Coromandel peninsula
Coromandel/Colville
• Colville Rd is closed in several places due to overslips and dropouts. Road will remain closed for some time. A full assessment has been done on the road including some ground testing. Further works are programmed for next week.
• Coromandel to Oamaru Bay is open
• Oamaru Bay to Amodeo Bay is closed
• Amodeo Bay to Colville is closed
•Colville to Port Jackson Rd is open
• Port Jackson Rd is CLOSED at Otautu Wharf Rd due to multiple large slips and dropouts. Works and assessments are progressing well.
Mercury Bay
• Blackjack Road is CLOSED following further subsidence and movement of the road. Assessments have been done on the road including some ground testing. Further works are programmed for next week.
• Bluff Road is CLOSED due to a slip. Road is closed at the bridge at the west end of Rings Beach.
Thames
• Tapu Coroglen Rd is CLOSED and impassable for the foreseeable future. Location is 10km from Tapu.
Tairua Pāuanui
• No closures
Whangamatā
• No closures
