A heavy rain watch is in force for the Bay of Plenty.
The MetService is forecasting heavy rain for parts of the North Island.
"A front is expected to move east across the North Island today bringing a burst of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms," says a spokesperson for the weather organisation.
"Heavy Rain Watches are in force for Northland and Eastern Bay of Plenty, and now also includes Auckland.
"People in these areas are advised to stay up to date with the latest forecasts in case any changes are made, or further areas are added."
