The second weekend of the 2024 GJ Gardner Homes NZ Beach Tour has come to a close with first seeds Alice Zeimann and Shaunna Polley taking out first place in the women's event, following their win last weekend at Mount Maunganui.

The duo continued their dominant run on the beach tour in Auckland at the Harbour Beach Volleyball Centre, having not dropped a set so far.

Alice and Shaunna overcame Anna Harrison & Danielle Quigley 2-0 (21-17, 21-14) to take out the final at the Auckland stop.

Eventual runners-up Anna Harrison and Danielle Quigley took a humble approach to the final, recognising the significant competition they were coming up against.

“Alice and Shaunna are New Zealand's number one and arguably the best New Zealand team we have ever had. We are here to challenge them and help them prep to get to the Olympics,” says Anna Harrison.

Third place in the women's event went to Meile Rose Green and Katie Sadlier who defeated Tineke Hinton and Kalea Norton 2-0 (21-14, 21-17).

In the men’s event, third seeds Tom Hartles and Ben O'Dea were able to overcome the first seeds Brad Fuller and Alani Nicklin, 2-1(18-21, 21-14, 15-11).

Brad and Alani, last week Mt Manganui Gold medalists were able to win their first set in a strong display 21-18, but would crumble in their second 14-21 and eventually lose the third deciding set 11-15.

Third place in the men’s event went to John McManaway and Tom Reid who overcame Martin Kaufer and Ty Landers 2-0 (21-19, 21-17).
