A person is recovering after suffering burns in a food trailer fire in Mount Maunganui.

Emergency services were called to a commercial property, near Aerodrome Road, around 2.30pm on Wednesday.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson says two fire crews were sent to the food trailer fire.

“An ambulance was called for someone who suffered burns. The fire was out on arrival.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson says was person was transported to Tauranga Hospital in moderate condition.
