Chris Robinson needs our help. In June, 2023, he was diagnosed with stage three colorectal cancer, and he needs funds to get to the UK for lifesaving treatment.

New Zealand offers treatment but it comes at a heavy price because it is not funded here.

“It would be more affordable to go to the UK as these treatments are funded there,” says Chris.

“My father is a British national and I’m able to get my citizenship.”

Chris’s good friend Austin suggested creating a GiveaLittle page to raise funds to enable Chris to get lifesaving treatment.

Chris says the money will go towards treatment and other amenities including airfares, transport and medical costs.

Chris is a well-known Tauranga musician, playing on the scene since 2013.

His father is a talented guitarist and inspired Chris to follow in his footsteps and become a musician too.

“I've done lots of local gigs in Tauranga including festivals like Loserpalooza and Woodcock.

“Even branched out to Auckland and Wellington with all my bands which also included Hard Throb and Slob.

“My greatest achievement is possibly the Tauranga Music Sux show which I conceived with my friend Austin Cunningham and were doing regular YouTube shows documenting the Tauranga punk scene."

Chris says he started getting into music from a young age.

"My mother bought me a guitar and that sparked my interest in learning more about playing.

“When I was a teenager I picked it up again as I got heavily inspired by classic rock. I have been playing in bands since my early 20s in both Wellington and Tauranga.

“I've been in the Tauranga music scene since 2013.

“I studied for my music diploma at the Bay Of Plenty Polytech and there I met my future bandmates for a variety of projects including The Flaming Tea Bags with local producer Evan Pope and my most well-known project the Diehards of Deep Dish which was a band that sung exclusively about the merits of pizza.

“I would even dress up as a slice of Margherita for these shows.”

Chris makes music from a large variety of genres.

“I love anything guitar-centred but have dabbled in electronic music. From classic rock to grunge and punk.

“I like music that has a message. Even if that message is just ‘I’m just here to have some fun'

“I'm a part of a band with my fiancé called 'Chokeflower".”

Chris says his aspiration for the future is to lift Chokeflower off the ground by moving to the UK.

Help Chris Robinson with his treatment for stage 3 Colorectal Cancer to prevent it from spreading further.
