InterGroup infrastructure operator Tama Clark says he was going about his day working when all of a sudden he saw a member of the public collapse on the Matapihi rail bridge at the end of The Strand.
Police have confirmed the incident was a medical related death on The Strand, reported at 11:50.
“He just collapsed,” says Tama. “He was on the ground and didn’t get up.
“The Tauranga City Council parking attendant was running towards me like sprinting, yelling call 111."

“I went up and checked his pulse and started CPR," says Tama.
“The TCC guy carried on as I ran to get the defibrillator."
Once the Fire and Emergency services and ambulances arrived their staff took over and continued CPR on the man.
Police have confirmed this was a medical related event and that the man has passed away.
