Covid-19: 6146 cases, 19 further deaths

The number of new cases of Covid-19 has increased by around 50 per cent this week from the previous week where numbers of new cases had also climbed from the week before that.

There have been 6146 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the past week, and 19 further deaths attributed to the virus.

This is a substantial increase on the number of Covid-19 cases reported - almost double that of last week's figure of 3922 new cases.

There were 242 cases in hospital as of midnight on Sunday, the Ministry of Health says.

The seven-day rolling average of cases was 762. Of the total new cases in the past week, 3916 were reinfections.

Last week, the ministry reported 3922 new cases of the virus and 13 further deaths.

The previous week, the ministry reported 2287 new cases and 19 further deaths attributed to the virus.
