The Thames Coromandel District Council is reminding Omahu and Hikutaia locals their water supply will be shut down today from 10am till 2pm.

The purpose of today's planned outage is to allow council contractors Veolia Water Ltd to carry out routine maintenance on the areas' water pipes.

All properties south of Omahu Valley Road will be affected. To minimise disruption Veolia has chosen to carry out work during school holidays and between milking times.

Specific areas that will be affected include:

• Elliot Road
• Onetai East Road
• Wharepoa Road
• Factory Road North
• Factory Road South
• Townsend Road
• Corbett Road
• Old Maratoto Road
• Ferry Road
• SH26 (south of Omahu Valley Road)
